The world football association FIFA announced on 10 October that they have awarded GoalControl GmbH, Würselen, the contract to provide the equipment for goal-line technology at the FIFA World Cup 2014 Brazil™. The company will install its ‚GoalControl-4D' system based on 14 high speed cameras in all 12 venues in Brazil for the most important and biggest football tournament in the world (12th June to the 13th July 2014) and will thus ensure everything runs absolutely smoothly.

‚GoalControl-4D' was already put into operation at the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 and showed how effective it was during the 16 games in six stadiums and proved itself whilst being monitored on a continuous basis by those responsible at FIFA. Dirk Broichhausen, the MD at GoalControl GmbH said: ‚we are very happy that all the match officials were convinced by our system and that we could come to an agreement with FIFA to continue working together. We were able to gain valuable experience on location in the host country Brazil during the ConfedCup and we are looking forward to continue working together with FIFA and all those involved in the stadiums in Brazil.'

Every system will be thoroughly tested by an independent test institute after it has been successfully installed to make sure that the quality is always of the highest standard. In addition, the match officials will carry out a system control test before every World Cup game. Together the timings and installation plans for a successful goal line technology at the FIFA World Cup 2014 Brazil™ will be agreed upon.
